The European Supply Chain Excellence Awards recognise and reward organisations in Europe for attaining the highest standards in their supply chain operations. For the ‘Logistics and Distribution' award, the judges were looking for systems that demonstrated clear improvements in the efficiency of a logistics operation and generated tangible benefits such as improving productivity, client satisfaction and profit.

CitySprint and Bibby Distribution's submission for the award was based on the unique Same Day delivery solution created by Toyota. Toyota Same Day Service allows the technician to identify the vehicle parts requirement as early as possible, any non stocked parts can be ordered by midday and the parts are delivered before 3pm. This service allows both Toyota & Lexus customers the benefit of having their vehicle fixed and returned the same day.

Together Toyota, Bibby Distribution and CitySprint have developed a supply-chain which has resulted in significant benefits for both Toyota and Lexus customers, which are supported by impressive KPIs. The resulting service is a first in the UK motor industry and represents a real commitment to customer service.

CitySprint was chosen by Bibby Distribution as their courier partner to make the final deliveries for Toyota's Same Day Service due to a combination of its unrivalled and unique infrastructure comprising of 31 Service Centres, and fleet of over 1500 couriers, strategically located throughout the UK and its leading edge ‘tracking' technology. Being able to maintain control of the orders and track the deliveries was a key factor in Toyota's Same Day Service offering. Each of CitySprint's couriers is equipped with GPS enabled hand-held CityTrakkers. These transmit information in real-time to and from CitySprint. This enables CitySprint to know the exact location of each courier at any given time and also enables customers to view a real-time map location of each courier using the CourierLocator facility on CitySprint's website. The provision of such information enables Bibby Distribution and the Toyota Centres themselves to ensure control of each delivery and to improve efficiency.
