CitySprint awarded contract with Health and Safety Laboratory

CitySprint has been awarded a three-year contract with the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL)...
CitySprint was awarded the contract, which will run from August 2010 for three years with the option to extend for a further two years, following a competitive tender process.

Under the new contract CitySprint is responsible for transporting scientific samples between HSL's headquarters in Buxton, Derbyshire, which is home to its state of the art laboratory, and other sites across the UK and the rest of the world. The deliveries will be carried out on a weekly basis and will include a combination of SameDay, UK Overnight and International services.

The scientific samples that CitySprint transports for HSL require safe and specific handling. CitySprint's Samples Transportation team combines extensive knowledge and over 25 years experience to provide clients with secure, effective and efficient transportation solutions for the secure movement of samples. CitySprint has a specialist fleet which includes refrigerated vans and secure vehicles with locked safes (strong boxes) to transport potentially hazardous samples, and compartmentalised load areas to prevent cross contamination. CitySprint's couriers are fully trained for the customer requirement to meet the requisite standards.

In addition, CitySprint is able to offer customers complete transparency and unrivalled levels of customer service via its leading edge CourierLocator facility. CourierLocator enables customers to view, via the CitySprint website, a real-time map location of the courier undertaking their SameDay Courier job from collection up until the point of delivery providing peace of mind at all times. HSL will be utilising this tracking facility during the contract period.

HSL supports the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and helps minimise risks to people's health and safety at work. In addition HSL also works with a wide range of other public and private-sector organisations, often conducting detailed, bespoke research and development work on their behalf. The work of HSL ranges from helping to control the hazards posed by industrial plant, through to assisting in the management of the occupational health of workers.
