CitySprint, which has been providing Serco with SameDay Courier services since 2006, was awarded the two-year contract extension following a competitive tender process. Under the new contract CitySprint will continue providing Serco with SameDay courier services on a daily basis across the UK through its network of 31 ServiceCentres but in addition will also be providing International and UK Overnight services.

Ben Sawyer, Buyer for Serco, explains why it was decided to extend CitySprint's contract for a further two years; "Since the initial contract was awarded to CitySprint in 2006 the level of service we have received has been second to none and the constant re-investment in technology that CitySprint displays demonstrates that it offers forward thinking synergies with SERCO and therefore offers a brilliant working partnership.

CitySprint has a can do attitude and often goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that our packages get delivered.  In addition, we have recently implemented purchasing cards for orders under £500 per transaction and CitySprint has worked with us to implement technology that ensures our payments are taken securely and safely. It is a combination of these factors, along with the fact that that CitySprint was able to meet the requirements of the tender, that led us to the decision to extend the contract for a further two years".
