CitySprint wins 'Road Risk Manager of the Year' award

CitySprint has been crowned winner of the 'Road Risk Manager of the Year' award at the 2010 Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence after demonstrating exemplary road risk management policies with proven results.

The Fleet Safety Forum Awards, now in their tenth year, are run by the Fleet Safety Forum - a division of the national road safety charity Brake. The prestigious and long-standing awards recognise the achievements of those working to help reduce the number of costly, and in many cases fatal, road crashes involving at-work drivers.

The 'Road Risk Manager of the Year Award' was presented to Am Pall, previously CitySprint's Fleet & Specialist Services Director who has been responsible for implementing the successful road safety initiatives, at a gala dinner at Chesford Grange in Warwickshire on Thursday 1st July 2010.

The judges commented "Am constantly strives to take his organisation well beyond the legal requirements for safety. He has introduced a variety of risk management initiatives such as driver selection, monitoring and training, which have produced great results in terms of lower crash rates and insurance claims. He's an excellent advocate for safety in a particularly challenging sector."

CitySprint is committed to protecting the safety of its couriers, clients and the general public. A testament of this is CitySprint has developed and implemented a comprehensive road safety programme which encompasses a range of activities and initiatives. The programme ensures that its fleet is managed in the safest way possible and that the most effective road safety initiatives are researched, implemented, reviewed and updated in order to ensure the safety of its couriers, clients and the general public at all times.

CitySprint's road safety programme includes:

  • New vehicles and regular vehicle safety checks
  • Highest quality drivers – strict selection process
  • Safe driving practices and adhering to the 12 point 'pledge to drive safely' by BRAKE
  • Monitoring of vehicle usage and operating times
  • Detailed reporting tools to identify persistent accident offenders
  • Innovative IT system called iFleet which enables CitySprint to maintain accurate records vital to delivering a safe and high quality service for clients

The programme has proven successful and has resulted in a reduction in road incidents, which therefore shows that CitySprint has helped improve the safety of its couriers, clients and the general public.

Am explains, "CitySprint is committed to protecting the safety of its couriers. For them the road is their office, they are heavy road users and come into contact with a large number of drivers. Road safety is, and always has, been of paramount importance to CitySprint and we do everything we can to keep up to date with the latest developments and initiatives in road safety and we continually monitor, review and update our road safety programme to ensure the safety of our couriers, passengers and the general public".
